My Daughter’s Birthday
My little girl turned 3 yesterday. Sometimes we forget how magical life is until we see it again through the eyes of a child. It reminds me to be less cynical and more open to the power of birthday wishes and all those logic defying hopes that dwell in the heart. It made me think about what I may wish for. Interestingly enough, anything involving the words marathon or Ironman were at the bottom of my list. What I wish is for my daughter to stay healthy and safe, for her to always be surrounded by people who love her, and for every one of her dreams to come true. My hope is that she doesn’t lose her innocence and that the world never robs her of it. I want her to gain and keep her faith in God and the endless possibilities that goodness and hard work can bring. My hope is to be able to protect and guild her and to see her grow. As I watch her change before my eyes, I’m constantly reminded why it’s so important to make the world a better place. Not that I don’t have a strong passion for my active lifestyle, it’s just by putting in context it enriches my life even more.
